Welcome to the Prophet of Causation newsletter, which I will use to send out reminders, updates, audio and video, and suggested readings for upcoming classes.
The suggested readings are just that: suggestions. A few of them, especially the shorter ones, are very strong suggestions. But I will be summarizing them in class, so you don’t have to read them. I provide them so those who want to delve more deeply can do so.
But first a note. About half of the people receiving this are still on the free list. If you have paid, you should see a box below saying “paid.” If you haven’t, you will see a box asking you to subscribe, and then a paywall. I understand that some of you are here to browse and check out the course and decide later whether you want to subscribe. That’s fine with me, and I hope you will, but just be warned that unlike at The Tracinski Letter, I won’t be giving out much in the way of free samples.
The first suggested reading for the first lecture is a pretty obvious one: Ayn Rand’s 1970 essay “Causality Versus Duty.” It was gathered in the anthology Philosophy: Who Needs It, but you can also find it online here.
